Sparkling gems by a range of Baroque composers—some familiar, others less so—for violin, recorder, flute, trumpet, and orchestra. Two delightful wind concertos by Telemann, a violin concerto by Vivaldi, a concerto grosso by the relatively unknown British Baroque composer Charles Avison (who returns after a smashing premiere last season), and the beautiful flute concerto—one of only few known  compositions—by Pierre-Gabriel Buffardin, who is credited with introducing Bach to the Baroque flute (resulting in the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5). Complementing this thrilling program are Maestro’s customary “live notes”!

Running time: 90 minutes – no intermission
